Ray of Hope’s Community Centre, now located in the building previously operated by the Waterloo Regional Dream Centre, offers a place of safety and support to those struggling through poverty and homelessness in the core of downtown Kitchener. Each man and woman who visits the centre is met by individuals who truly care about their well-being.
Working in partnership with local churches, businesses and volunteers, our Community Centre meets the practical needs of each guest who visits. We provide a hot meal, groceries, clothing, blankets, towels, personal hygiene products and shower and laundry facilities.
Ray of Hope also provides life-skills training, instilling confidence and employment potential in many of the men and women who have limited opportunities to reach their full potential due to poverty and homelessness. Life skills include literacy tutoring, resumé writing, budgeting, basic computer skills and emotional and spiritual management.
Rehoboth is located on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, 3 miles from a large rural
community, which is the worst HIV/AIDS infected & affected area of South Africa.
The
Village provides long-term care for children who have been orphaned and/or abandoned
and are HIV positive, in small family group homes. A 22 acre farm was purchased in
January 2002. Six houses are already completed. Each home is run by a housemother
caring for 4 children creating a family atmosphere. Two more houses are almost ready,
three more houses are under construction & will be in operation by the end of 2007.
The village will then be a home for life to 44 children living with HIV.
